About the U.S.S. Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum:
This U.S.S. Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum is an NY Museum that is popular with visitors of all ages. A visit here includes the chance to explore the Intrepid – an aircraft carrier that was commissioned in 1943 and went on to be used in 3 wars. After surviving combat, including Kimakaze attacks, the ship was decommissioned in 1974.

Today the ship, which is a National Historic Landmark, is one of the highlights of the U.S.S. Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum. When you visit this NY Museum, you will have the opportunity to see historic artifacts, watch wartime footage, and much more. Learn about the daily life of sailors about the ship, see their living quarters, and see items they would have used while onboard. You’ll also see the space shuttle Enterprise and other historic aircraft and the submarine Growler.

After you explore the artifacts and vessels at this Thing to do in NYC, you can enjoy a simulated ride that will let you know exactly what it feels like to fly in some of the aircraft that are on display. The simulation rides are a favorite feature of the Museum, so consider trying more than one during your visit to the U.S.S. Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum.
